US Secretary of State Antony Blinton has said that the US is Qatar's capital Doha Will look into the affairs of Afghanistan since then and India seems to be doing the same right now.

A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs of India said, "On Tuesday, Indian Ambassador Deepak Mittal spoke to the Taliban's politics in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The head of the office, Sher Mohamed Abbas, met with Stanekzai. The meeting took place at the Indian Embassy in Doha at the request of the Taliban."

According to the statement, in this meeting talks were held regarding security and early return of Indian citizens trapped in Afghanistan. Afghan citizens, especially minorities who Want to come to India, their issue also came up in the meeting.

Stuart Binny retires from all formats of cricket

 

Indian all-rounder Stuart Binny has retired from all formats of cricket. The 37-year-old had last played for India in a T20I against West Indies in Lauderhill, US in August 2016.

Binny, the son of former India all-rounder Roger Binny, represented India in six Tests, 14 ODIs and three T20Is. His bowling figures of 6/4 against Bangladesh in the second ODI at Mirpur in June 2014 remains the best-ever performance by an Indian bowler in ODIs.

“I would like to inform that I have decided to retire from international and first-class cricket. It has given me tremendous joy and pride to have represented my country at the highest international level,” said Binny in a statement on Monday.

Hurricane Ida approaches the Louisiana coast

 Hurricane Ida rapidly intensified Saturday night and its top sustained winds have climbed to 150 mph. It will make landfall today in Louisiana as a devastating hurricane, and conditions are already worsening this morning.

The hurricane may strengthen a little more over the northern Gulf of Mexico before landfall along the Louisiana coast, where Hurricane Warnings and Storm Surge Warnings remain in place.

Ida's sustained winds of 150 mph match those of Hurricane Laura when it made landfall last year in Louisiana.

Parts of the northern Gulf Coast will face flooding rain, dangerous storm surge and damaging winds Sunday and Monday.

Dangerous storm surge over 9 feet deep, and possibly as high as 16 feet, may occur near the core of the storm. Much of the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama coast will see several feet of storm surge inundation.

Most of the pumps in New Orleans are ready for service to try to limit the flooding in the city.

Destructive wind damage is expected in southern Louisiana as winds exceed 110 mph. The strong winds will spread inland as Ida tracks north on Sunday. Winds this strong will cause power outages, snap trees and damage or destroy structures. 

The heavy rain threat will spread inland by Sunday continuing into early week as Ida moves north. Flooding is possible for much of Louisiana and Mississippi. Coastal areas in Louisiana could see over one foot of rain.

Spaghetti models agree with one another that the center of Ida's track will hit southeastern Louisiana, then hook toward the northeast. However, Ida's effects will extend well beyond the center of the storm.

Spaghetti models or plots show a series of individual computer forecast models together on one map. They are useful to give insight into whether multiple models are in agreement or not on the path of the storm but they do not address the storm’s forecast intensity, winds, flooding and storm surge potential or other data. Tap here for more details on to best use these models.

Storm Surge Warning:

• East of the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, Louisiana to the Alabama/Florida border, including Lake Pontchartrain and Mobile Bay.

Tropical Depression Ten and Tropical Depression Eleven formed in the Atlantic Saturday. Both will continue on a track in open waters.

One other tropical disturbance has a high chance to develop over the next five days, while another off the Mid-Atlantic coast has a low chance of development. Track them all here.

Tom Brady throws touchdown pass as Buccaneers beat Texans 23-16

HOUSTON (AP) — After seven Super Bowl wins and more than two decades in the NFL, Tom Brady remains a student of the game.

On Saturday after he wrapped up his 22nd preseason by leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a victory over the Houston Texans, he reflected on how important it is each time he steps on the field.

“Every time you play, you learn something,” he said. “I’ve been doing this a long time, but you (can’t) … take anything for granted.”

Brady threw for 154 yards and a touchdown in just more than a quarter in the 23-16 win.

It was by far his most extensive work this preseason after the three-time NFL MVP played just six snaps in a loss to Cincinnati two weeks ago and sat out last week against in a loss to Tennessee.

Brady got off to a slow start, throwing two incompletions on his first drive before a punt by Tampa Bay. He got going on the next possession when he completed seven consecutive passes, capped by a 24-yard touchdown throw to Chris Godwin. The extra point was blocked to put the Buccaneers up 6-0.

Brady stuck with Godwin to start the next drive, connecting on a 32-yard pass on the last play of the first quarter. Tampa Bay extended the lead to 13-0 on a 13-yard run by Ronald Jones II and Brady was replaced by Blaine Gabbert after that.

“It was good to get a couple of good long drives in,” Brady said. “We really haven’t played that much … so it was just good to spread the ball around and get into a little flow and it was good to score and get the win.”

Tampa Bay coach Bruce Arians was disappointed with the first drive, but said he is very happy with where his team is overall as the regular season approaches.

“We’re healthy,” he said. “I like the game speed in which we played this ballgame and we still have some guys that are catching back up, but I think we’re going to be fine.”

Tyrod Taylor failed to move the offense effectively for Houston in three drives, going 6 of 9 for 31 yards. He’s expected to be Houston’s starter this season with star Deshaun Watson’s future with the team in question after 22 women filed lawsuits alleging that he sexually assaulted or harassed them.

Houston police and the NFL are investigating the allegations, leaving Watson’s future with the team uncertain. Even before all that Watson requested a trade earlier this year. Watson was not seen on the sideline Saturday.

Houston’s defense scored the team’s first points when DeMarcus Walker sacked Gabbert in the end zone for a safety that made it 13-2.

The Texans recovered two fumbles and had an interception Saturday to give them 10 takeaways this preseason. Houston was last in the league with nine last season, and new defensive coordinator Lovie Smith has made it a priority in camp to improve that number.

Third-round draft pick Davis Mills replaced Taylor after three possessions and was 10 of 27 for 106 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. His 11-yard pass to Nico Collins cut the lead to 16-10 in the third quarter and he found Jordan Veasy for a 9-yard score that got Houston within 23-16 early in the fourth.

“We gave it up way too many times,” coach David Culley said. “It doesn’t matter how many you get on defense, when you turn it over on offense your chances of winning are very slim. And that was very disappointing.”

Second-round pick Kyle Trask finished the game for Tampa Bay and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Corey McElroy between the two TD passes by Mills.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Tampa Bay DL Ndamukong Suh was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday and did not travel to Houston.

JUST KICKIN’ IT

Houston K Kaʻimi Fairbairn was held out for a minor injury, leaving safety Justin Reid, who often practices extra points and field goals before practice for fun, to kick off Saturday.

Reid handled three kickoffs and they were for 65, 61 and 48 yards. The second one was impressive because Reid made the tackle with Rasul Douglas after his kick.

The Texans did not let Reid attempt a field goal despite campaigning to do so. They went on fourth down six times and attempted 2-point conversions on both of their touchdowns.

“If we got to the plus-24 yard-line, he was going to kick a field goal,” Culley said. “That was his distance. He was going to kick a field goal, and he was excited about that. Unfortunately we didn’t get down there when we needed to get down there late in the game.”

Reid is a former soccer player who kicked in high school and was the emergency kicker at Stanford but never got to kick there.

“I had the time of my life,” he said. “I’ve been looking forward to this moment for so long.”

'Youngsters have been bailing team out': Inzamam-ul-Haq says Kohli, Pujara, Rahane need to get big scores consistently

The Pakistan great further said that the team has been dependent on the youngsters in recent years to bail them out of difficult situations, but if the experienced players do not perform consistently, it puts pressure on the youngster as well.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq believes "big gaps" between "big scores or hundreds" from India's three mainstay batsmen - Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and Cheteshwar Pujara, has become a problem for Team India. Inzamam's remarks came after India were bowled out for 278 on Day 4 of the 3rd Test against England at Headingley, losing the match by an innings and 76 runs.

“If you look at Team India’s batters, Virat Kohli hasn’t scored a hundred in nearly two years. The case is the same with Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane is also struggling. Youngsters have been bailing the team out of difficult situations in recent times. Rishabh Pant scored a lot of runs, Ravindra Jadeja also contributed and Ashwin as well. The young guns have contributed a lot more in comparison to the experienced guys," Inzamam said in a video on his Youtube channel.

“In big series, if Team India’s experienced players don’t lead from the front, then they are bound to find themselves in trouble. I have been observing India’s performance from Australia. They have played some very good Test cricket. They have won series’ away from home in tough conditions. But the major role in these wins was played by the young players.”

According to a PTI report, the all-rounder has been ruled out of the remainder of the T20I with seven days of isolation while the remaining eight tested ‘negative’ in the RT-PCR tests but as a precautionary measure won't be able to take the field on Wednesday. However, there is no official confirmation from the BCCI yet.

Karnataka: Google corrects Maps after Kannada Development Authority nudge

 

 BENGALURU: Kannada Development Authority (KDA) chairman TS  Nagabharana has written to Google India, Bengaluru, asking the technology major to correct the wrongly spelt names of cities, towns and villages of  Karnataka in Kannada on its Google Maps application and web-mapping platform.

 The authority said it has noticed names of several cities, towns and villages of  Karnataka wrongly spelt on Google Maps and that they need to be rectified. KDA has also offered Google assistance in this regard.

 Nowadays, Google Maps has been effectively helping everyone, including tourists, and there is a danger that people will continue to use the misspelt names of places, assuming they are correct and that might become the norm, KDA officials said.
